I have been at the Lynnwood Fred Meyer since noon so I could get a Wii at the midnight launch. Time to hook the motherfucker up :)

I only got Zelda and the Wii Sports title that came with it. I also downloaded the original Zelda for the Virtual Console. I played a little of the new Zelda and it is quite cool. Bowling on the Wii Sports disc is insane, it's just like you are actually bowling but without the weight of the ball. Fucking killer! Must sleep now...

PS... getting the Wiimote to work properly was a major pain in the ass, it was way off for 30 minutes or so then just dialed itself in. I don't know how I did it but it was very frustrating.

I went over to my friend's house today to check his out (He waited in line at the Bellingham Wal-Mart since 9:30 that morning). I played the Wii Sports game, and am totally blown away at how the new controller performs. I was playing tennis and bowling with ease. There is barely any learning curve to get the controller moves down. I was just amazed, especially in the bowling game, at how accurately your character moves in relation to how you want it to move. Fucking incredible. I WILL be buying one of these very soon!!

I've been seeing the ads lately for some of the third party games and their controller set ups. Call of Duty 3 and Ultimate Alliance look awesome with the wiimote and nunchuk.

I would also like to say this out front.

It would be a crying shame if they neglected a Wii Punch-Out! title. Not some virtual console release, an all new game.

Hell yeah. I'm waiting for some really good games to come out on the Wii before I try to get one, and a new Punch-Out would rule.

The boxing game on Wii sports is pretty sweet, one can work up a good sweat after a few fights. The only shortcoming (maybe I just don't get it yet) is the inability to do uppercuts. It is fun as hell and has a great price point as it is a packin with the system. Better than Talledega Nights with the PS3 :)

Tried it out...

Co-worker brought it in the other day, checked out Tennis, bowling, and boxing. I thought the bowling was fun, but the boxing felt a little out of my control.

I think I'm too lazy for "action video games". ;)

Having to get my ass up or move my arms would be fun to try, but prolly not my style. Think you'll be able to rent the system at some point?

You can get the "classic controller" which is like a traditional gamepad. Looks like a cross between the SNES controller and the Gamecube controller. Allegedly, you can use Gamecube controllers with it, too. Some games on the virtual console don't work with the remote/nunchuck, so they require you to have some kind of gamepad.

I got a Wii a few weeks back. I play tested it over the holidays with my family and in-laws. Everyone on both sides wants one. Wii Sports was a hit. Even my wife, who is usually way down on video gaming loved bowling. Last weekend I went out and bought Zelda. The Twilight Princess is, hands down, the best launch title in the history of console gaming and it also stands as my favorite Zelda game thus far.

Graphics are top notch. They may not be on par with Gears of War or other competing consoles, but they're beautiful on the Wii. The controls are tight and handle very well, waving the remote around for different attacks is fun and much easier to do than I thought it would be. If it weren't for the occasionally shitty camera positioning, I might be inclined to call it the perfect video game.

Unfortunately, the Wii's other launch titles are pretty much at the bottom of the gaming barrel. With the exceptions of Trauma Center, Rayman and Monkey Ball, the rest of the line-up are mostly animated movie licenses. Anything worth playing is still a few months away.
