Anyone into e-cigarettes?

Post by Chris Slack »

Posting this as I was talking to Jody about them at the show last night.

Anyone else using e-cigarettes instead of smoking? I've been doing it since mid-February and my lungs and wallet really dig it. There's a bit of a learning curve involved but once you get the hang of it there's simply no need for "analog" smokes.

The FDA has been fairly outspoken against them with a LOT of propoganda but myself and the legions of "vapers" are farily certain that is simply because the various government agencies aren't seeing the revenues from the products or the nicotine liquid that the devices vaporize.

I will admit that because it is a relatively new product there may be some long term effects that nobody knows about yet but I feel they couldn't be any worse then the PROVEN harmful effects of cigarettes.

If you're going to try this stay FAR away from the kiosks at the malls, they charge far too much and sell inferior quality products that will create a negative impression of the technology. I got my e-cigs (Joye 510 nobox) at http://www.cignot.com/ and get my liquids at http://www.healthcabin.net/. Healthcabin is in mainland China so it's best to place a larger order to make the high shipping cost (I use EMS as standard shippign takes forever). There are a lot of US companies making and selling liquids but since they are largely run out of peoples basements I prefer the Chinese stuff as it comes from ISO9000 factories with good sanitation, clean rooms and so on.

If you're curious about this alternate method of nicotine delivery there's a great forum at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ with LOTS of information and many helpful members.

Jody - I got the charger case I showed you at http://www.cignot.com/category_s/52.htm and the Cartomizers (combination cartridge/atomizers) at http://www.healthcabin.net/5pc-510-hard ... -7607.html

I used to sell a lot of these when I worked in tobacco distribution. I tried these things, they don't do much for me.

You either used the wrong models or the wrong liquids then :)

The base liquid is just propylene glycol (a relative of antifreeze and the exact substance found in "fog juice") that can be had for about $12 a gallon from chemical supply companies or about $20 a gallon at Guitar center. You could probably toss a box of nicotine patches into a bucket of it, let it soak for a week, and have about the same thing for next to nothing per dose :)

Thanks for posting this Chris!

Yes Chris is right, you havn't tried the correct one yet. I bought one at a smoke sshop for $50 and it was total shit. I bought a 510 from some place in oregon and it rules! I want to get the Joy 510 like chris has though, I like the charging case.

One of my co-workers tried a bunch of brands. Due to our industry my employees aren't allowed to go outside for breaks and we had to really start cracking down on smoking inside or slipping out side for a puff.

She said the best she tried and bought was at besteciggy.com or something like that. At our last DM meeting she had me try it right there in the conference room with everyone. . .pretty cool

It's a little akward at first but the benefits and all the flavors would make me buy it if I was a regular smoker

I use them when I am at medical facilities that have the "No smoking on campus" signs....I don't have time to drive/walk 5 blocks to have a quick smoke.
