Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine (1965)
“Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine” is a 1965 comedy film directed by Norman Taurog and distributed by American International Pictures. The movie stars Vincent Price, Frankie Avalon, Dwayne Hickman, Susan Hart, and Jack Mullaney. It’s a parody of the spy trend popular at the time, with a title that playfully spoofs two James Bond films: Dr. No and Goldfinger. In the film, Dr. Goldfoot (played by Vincent Price) invents an army of bikini-clad robots programmed to seduce wealthy men and charm them into signing over their assets. Secret agent Craig Gamble (Frankie Avalon) and millionaire Todd Armstrong set out to foil Goldfoot’s fiendish plot. Despite its low production values, the film has achieved cult status for its in-jokes, over-the-top sexuality, and the claymation title sequence designed by Art Clokey. The title song is performed by The Supremes.
