So some of you are aware that through an endless need to tinker I found out I like building cabs, and have come up with a few designs that actually sound pretty good that I will be building for sale.
SME Bass Inc. will be building the following styles:
6X10 Sealed (no venting) (900W) @ 5.33 ohms
2X10 Sealed (no venting) (300W) @ 8 ohms (possibly 4ohm models as well)
1x15 Sealed (no venting) (300W) @ 8 ohms(possibly 4ohm models as well) pictured without screen, but screen will be included (just waiting on delivery)
and in a few months
20X15 Sealed (2-10s over 1-15)
And when I say sealed, I mean glued, screwed, and epoxy'd. This makes for a very solid sound that cuts nicely through the mix and is still full and rich.
I'll have examples of the designs up on SMEBass.com very soon, along with any other details.
If you'd like to hear the 6X10, you can feel free to stop by Studio 7 on April 4 to hear it live, or give me a call at 206.769.9453. I will have the 2X10 and the 1X15 available for a listen in about 2-3 weeks.
The web site goes live on May 1st, but pre-orders are welcome. Contact me for pricing. (scott@smebass.com)

Sealed! Good boy! I've always felt that good ol' sealed enclosures sound better than ported, bandpass, transmission line, coupled cavity, and all the other designs that squeeze out more volume in exchange for a nice even response across frequencies.

Yeah, it's getting to the point of overtone madness, so I'm steering towards the other end of the spectrum.

I'm liking the idea of a 2015. I used to have two Peavey cabs with two 10"s and an 18" a piece and I kick myself for ever parting with them. They were also easier to transport than that beast of an 8x10 I have now (which needs a MAJOR facelift).

I wouldn't mind thumping on one.
We'll be using Eminence Speaker's pretty much exclusively for now, using the Basslite series, which cuts the magnet weight in half but doesn't loose any of the punch at all!
I'm finishing the last two prototype's next week, after which I will have pics of the first 3 models up on this thread (20X15 will be the next round).
I'll try to set up a date where people can come check out the first model's in a somewhat organized fashion, but IM me if you just want to head down to our practice space at S7 one of these days and check out the 6X10 model.

People seem very interested in this config. I'm probably going to use the same body spec's as the 6X10 to give enough room inside the cab for ample air movement, but that still will be more compact and maneuverable than an 8X10 or a 1X15-4X10 stack, while still giving you the full range of low's and highs.

I jammed on the 6x10 at Flights a couple weeks back Frank, and can honestly say it outperformed my 8x10 and your 6x10 and it's about 1/4 the weight!

But you don't separate the 18" cavity from the one that holds the 10's?

No. There is no chambering in any of these Cabs. The 6X10 and the 2-10X15 will have support braces near the middle for structural integrity, but they are shaped to allow full airflow throughout the interior of the cabinet.

added photo of 6X10 prototype to my original post. Main difference with the model that will be sold is the handles on the side will be large recessed metal handles, not pullout like what is shown in the photo.
2X10 and 1X15 photos coming shortly.

I got the chance to check out the 6x10 in person last night! These are going to be some solid cabs, and light as FUCK too! Good job, Scotty! 'Twas good to hang out with you for a minute.
