OMFG! There's really goin to be a dj there tonight.
I still can't believe this shit!

This is the first time in the HISTORY of the Central that there will be no live music on a friday night.

here's the flyer...

This is just WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image

It will be very interesting to see if Windowpane will be playing the New Years Eve bash as they have been for the past five years.

As a guitarist I am offended by their 'shred central' flyer. No live music on a friday night. It has DIED!

There's a good show on Monday. Mökshya & Opus Dai. It'll more than likely be the last one I go to & I'm only going because I feel that no one else will show up & I can't bear the thought of an empty bar. Monday has been dead for a while. Attendance has been declining steadily during the week. Weekends are better, but not stellar. If the skater crowd can revitalize The Central & Pioneer Square, then more power to 'em. I wish them luck.

I would say rally and come out and support some kick ass touring bands and show them that we can come out in numbers and that live music should continue. But, it seems that the general consensus is that The Central was already dead, surely it was since you* weren't there, and that we're better off. Besides...it's a Monday. No one comes out on Mondays anymore.

Ce la vie.

*you as in a general, second person you. not anyone in particular. though if someone felt attacked personally by that you, you should put that in your pipe and smoke it. :)

The venue would be awesome for Jazz or Blues. If it had that I'd go.

And hey, growing up on the coast of California I heard the word "SHRED" a lot. But it was associated with surfing and.... skating. So, if there's skaters using the word shred, it's justified.

Mökshya is from Arizona. They're on tour. They kick ass. Opus Dai are from L.A. I haven't seen them, so I don't know anything about their ass kicking ability. I hope people talk about you guys like this when you're on tour. :)

Ouch. . . . Considering most bands that play the central on nights Jason has been there are local, and tend to be local on a regular basis, I would have to agree with him but hey I am a NWR and SOG junkie. . .so I am biased. . . :D :devildoll

And yes when S2C is on tour they do talk about them. . .and it's positive. . .at least what I have seen in Oregon.

. . but again I may be biased. . . S2C has three letter intials in their name like SIB, SOG, and NWR well. . .again I am a junkie. . . .:devildoll:metalhead:devildoll

I remember playing at The Central for the first time with my old rock band - before any of you knew me - and really feeling stoked because I thought I had got my foot into some kind of a higher level. Same thing the first time we played The Lakepointe. Later, when a lot of you had met me, and I ended up playing The Central ALOT it had stopped being a big deal, since I had been going to MMM all the time. Wow, that was years ago. But The Central felt like home. Even in the last few years when I've barely gone out and they stopped giving me free beer it still does.

On the nights when I've gone there on nights when other crowds are there I could always count on Daniel and Steve being there. They'd be alot happier to see me too than other nights. :D Well, now I won't have that. I don't foresee any reason to just "show up" there again without knowing who is playing, who will be there. That to me is the biggest loss.

I hear ya Ciaran. I'll miss my little crappy biker bar home away from home. Speaking of, will the bikers continue to patronize The Central?
Jenzy wrote:Ouch. . . .
Heh...maybe a little harsh, but I felt like he was being a jerk and that may be because I'm biased as well.

I think a lot of bands tour through Seattle and a lot hit up The Central. Seattle is supposed to be a music city and The Central has a reputation for being a good place to play because of it's history. I've been there several times when so-and-so from somewhere else was playing.

Mökshya, I consider to be friends now. I really like their music, their tone and their message. They're a long way from home and I'd just like to see them get the support that they deserve along with some gas money!!!

If S2C went to say, Dallas, I'm sure they would appreciate some support and gas money and to be called a "kick ass touring band". :D

Good to see you last night Dave! Great crowd! Awesome stage. Now, if only I felt at home at S7...

It was good seeing you, too. I hear ya about not feeling at home at S7. Heck, even though I "know" some of the people that run the place, the only ones who make me feel welcome there are the bands I support and the friends I run into there. Not saying that I'm anyone special, but even the bouncers at the Central seem to remember me and make me feel welcome, whether I have my camera or not.
