POTC3: At World's End

Post by DylanDog »

I never would have thought I'd be out to see this on the first night, but the new theatre near me charges only $7.50 for a movie, soda AND popcorn. And I was sort of curious to see what the turn out would be there. And I have to admit, these movies are tons of fun. The first was a real blast and surprised the hell outta me. I caught up to the second the other day to prepare and honestly was a bit disappointed. The humor in that one seemed really forced to me. But 3 was up to par with the first, if not better. The action was thrilling and the humor was consistently funny and seemed to come naturally. The plot was ok, but there was so much backstabbing and side-changing going on that after awhile I just stopped caring and just let the performance of the actors be the focus. And make no mistake, there's a ton of effects in this movie, but it's the dialogue and the people delivering it who steal the show. The ending was nice too. It left it so there could be a sequel, but there does not necessarily have to be one. But after 3, if there's a 4, I''ll be there.

Sweet... I'd heard from a bunch of people that it just wasn't up to snuff and my only reply could be "But, but... It has Chow Yun Fat in it!"

Saw this last night and was really underwhelmed. I liked the first one a lot and the second one was OK. To me 3 seemed really rushed and more SFX based than an actual movie.

Loved all the backstabbing. Loved the insane amounts of special effects. Loved the humor. I am afraid that they ended it with such an obvious teaser for #4. How often have movies got better after a trilogy is complete?

Saw it when it came out last thursday thought it was better than 2. I do have to agree with a review I read stating that it's best to brush up on the first two before seeing it as it does spend a good portion of the beginning relying on the fact that you remember all the characters and their roles in this movie.

Really enjoyed Keith Richards in the movie, I cracked up when I saw him. I thought some parts were cheesy and stupid but am glad they left the ending open for a possible fourth.

I think when it comes out on DVD (the 3 pack prolly around Xmas) I will actually buy it.

Saw it in Sunday. Great wrap-up to the Trilogy. Huge climax/ending! A little bit of nod though, as it had a noticeably long run time
Some great characters!!

Yeah, he did way better then I thought he would. They also did way more with his character then I thought they were going to. Very cool part of the movie for sure.

Finally saw this with my son. He basically enjoyed it but found himself "tired," as well.

Not NEARLY enough Chow Yun-Fat, and the film COULD have been significantly shorter and sweeter. I really enjoyed the first, essentially liked the second, but I can't help but feel that they could have done everything they really needed to do in Parts 2 and 3 in one big movie.

Just my double-oh two--you don't really need an in-depth review from me at this time, I'm sure.
