I saw it with my mom on sunday afternoon. It was pretty cool. And Jar Jar binks didn't say a word (YIPPEE!!!). I didn't see James Earl Jones in the closing credits cause he was the voice of Darth Vader at the end of the movie. It was kind of neat how they put "humpty dumpty" (Vader) back together again.

I just returned from seeing this,and I thoroughyl enjoyed it,for George Lucas redeemed himself with this one,with better FX and a better structured storyline,and Anakin's villain turn goes out really good.

Otherwise,I would have liked to have seen both The Governor(Grand Moff)Tarken character and Christopher Lee given more screen time(maybe have the handless Dooku flee to the lava planet,where Anakin lays waste to the Separatists/Trade Federation),and have Jar Jar meet his fate(since both him and Dooku were set up as major characters in the first two films,but are briefly seen here,for Jar Jar meeting a sacrificial death to save Obi Wan would have been nice).

Or Jar-Jar could have died from Cancer, or AIDS or something slow and painful like watching his character on-screen :p

Saw it Sunday and loved it. In fact, I'm tempted to say it is my favorite of the entire series, not just the prequels. It really wrapped up everything in a satisfying and believable way. The action was dynamite, especially the opening dogfights. That scene alone has me looking forward to the 3D releases. I'll probably go again sometime this week.

Saw this last night. It was very good. The final piece of the puzzle. Thought it was the best of the first three. Still more a fan of IV V and VI though.

$ 627 Million dollars ~ Estimated productivity loss from workers absenteeism in the first 2 days of the movie release.

Going to try to see it this week. :cheers:

Randy and I dragged our asses into work on time the day after we saw the movie, but I wasn't 100% with only 3 hours of sleep. Ron doesn't work Fridays and we let the kids play hooky. :D ;)

We're going to go see it again this weekend. :cheers:

According to imdb.com it is James Earl Jones he is just uncredited.

George paid him close to $9000 just to do the voice for that scene. Took him only about an hour and a half to do.

How do I describe SW:ep3 now that I've seen it? In three words - "It Doesn't Suck."

Statistically, Anakin did bring balance (well, kind'a):

Ep1:
jedi = "lots" / sith = 2
(Obi-Wan kills Darth Maul)
jedi = "still a lot" / sith = now down to 1

Ep2:
(Sidious gets new apprentice)
jedi = "still plenty" / sith = 2

Ep3:
(Anakin kills Count Dooku)
jedi = "still damn too many" / sith = back to 1
(Anakin becomes Darth Vader and along with the clone troopers massacres most of the jedis except for Yoda and Obi-Wan)
jedi = 2 / sith = 2

;)

Fine action, believable story arc... as for a convincing performance or realistic dialogue coming from Hayden Christensen? Well... fine action, believable story arc.

And yes, it was surprisingly dark.

No long review needed from me, but I'll give you my official series ranking in order of favorite to least favorite.

5, 4, 3, 2, 6, 1.

Fair enough?

Saw it again Sunday and thought it held up pretty good the 2nd time around. One minor complaint though and again it's to do with consistency. In ESB Obi-Wan says about Luke "That boy is our last hope." to which Yoda replies "No, there is another" presumably talking about Leia. It's hard to believe Obi-Wan could have simply forgotten her and needed to be reminded, having been at her birth and all. And I'm still very amused that the saga began with a strong female lead in Leia and ended with Padme spending the whole movie basically barefoot and pregnant.

Remo, glad to see you also thought AOTC was better than ROTJ. Jedi tends to get away with basking in the glow of the the first two movies while AOTC, though flawed, I think gets unfairly wiped with the same brush as Phantom Menace.

Originally Luke's sister was meant to be some other broad who, he would discover, was training simultaneously as him in some other part of the galaxy. Leia was to go into politics, leaving the series but these elements were eventually written out of subsequent drafts of EMPIRE - probably as Lucas got more and more comfortable with the idea of a trilogy.

I'll still put ROTJ (way) above ROTS. Yeah, the ewoks are a bit too much and there's some character inconsistancies but the Emperor/Vader/Luke shit is outstanding, the dog fights unequalled and, hey, I dig the Jabba stuff - even if it is a bit muppety at times.

I've gotta go see ROTS again and I know I'll enjoy it again but I also suspect its lustre will fade rapidly thereafter, as did AOTC's.

I'm pretty ambivalent about Revenge. It wasn't great, but it didn't suck. While most everyone I know proclaims it the best of the new trilogy, I still think Attack of the Clones is a better movie.

When the end credits rolled, I felt pretty unfulfilled, the same feeling the last two left me with. It's like I'd just eaten McDonalds: great in the moment, but in the aftermath it just wasn't very good for me.

The entire first act leading up to the inevitable was boring beyond words. The fight with Count Dooku came out of nowhere and lacked any sort of tension. And if I had to hear R2 make that WOOOOOAHH!! sound one more time, someone was getting hurt.

I suppose it could have been a lot worse and I'm just glad its all over.

All over? But haven't you heard the rumors of Episode 0, set 800 years before the prequels??? C'mon man, keep the faith, there'll be more. :)

BTW, where the hell is Chuck? I can't believe this he hasn't chimed in in this whole thread.

I heard about some TV show that will either be set in the old Old Republic days when Yoda was wicked young or something or it will be set during the intervening years between Episodes 3 and 4.

As tired as I've gotten of Star Wars as a cultural item recently, I'd probably watch a TV show set in either setting, but I really don't much like this Old Republic setting. I'd much rather see one about the formation of rebellion.

I think the TV show is set between Episodes 3 and 4. The movie rumor is the one with Yoda as a young Jedi, vanquishing the Sith. Which actually would be pretty cool. We'd heard for several movies what a great Jedi Yoda was, but in the two main fights he has in the Ep2 and 3, at best he doesn't win.
