If I was able to score tickets in time I would be. I kept getting notifications about pre-sales yet everytime I went to purchase tickets the site said they weren't on sale yet. Before I knew it, it had sold out.

If anyone has an extra ticket please let me know. I'd be most interested in taking it off your hands.

Its taking me a few spins to get into ... very different from the first record, I expected it to be heavier and its more trippy/atmospheric.

Must be all the drugs Brent has been doing to "expand his mind/heal from his brain trama" from getting his ass kicked in Vegas. ;)

Still waiting to hear on my tickets, comon record company ... kick em down bitches!!!

It's getting his ass knockout and almost dying in Vegas that inspired the CD. I read he is sober right now....that could be it, also. :)

Huh, I just read this...

"Mastodon Unleash the Beast Within
The violent, acid-fueled journey of America's new kings of metal
BRIAN HIATTPosted Apr 08, 2009 1:00 PM

Brent Hinds, frontman and lead guitarist for Mastodon, has reached the inevitable point in the evening when his speech starts to slur. A few hours back, during a listening session for his Atlanta metal band's epic new album, Crack the Skye, he polished off at least six Budweiser tallboys ... "

I used to like Mastodon.. until I saw them at Mayhem Fest, and I dunno... they just didn't do anything for me. After that I tried listening to them, and just couldn't do it any more. I will probably buy the new album eventually if I hear enough samples that are good... but I dunno... we'll see.

The show was PACKED! (way to small a venue for this tour)

Watched most of the 2 hr set, got bored during the first hour as they played the new album start to finish and those 11m and 13min songs dragged.

They are an acquired taste at this point (with the departure that this new album brings from their past stuff), .... my reaction: meh!

Good to see lots of friends out at the show! (Kevin lets hit the links!)

I take it back ... "the meh!"

The more I listen to this CD, the more I am digging it. Makes me wish I had heard it more in-depth before the show.

Isn't Neumo's pretty much a garage?

I think it's like Mastodon but more primitive.
