Got a new guitar...

Post by Oof »

...and it needs to be set-up for Drop C. I dont know how to do this shit and like hell if I want to learn. Has a Floyd Rose. Anyone know someone to set it up for me on the eastside or Everott area?

Drop C is for pussies. Tune to A or die. Ask Clark, he'll tell you.

A Standard with the option of drop G separates the men from the boys...

..okay, I've never used that tuning but damn-it-all if I don't want to now. I need more guitars. :D

That's wicked busniess and should only be trusted to Mike Lull.

^ Agreed.

It needs to be setup for that tuning/string gauge ... esp with a Floyd. I use 12-54's in that tuning to hold tension. Mike had to bore out my string slots at the head due the increased size of the 54.

He is spendy, but worth every penny. We been bringin our guitars to him for over 10 years.

(or ask Hodgy, he seems to know what his is doing)

'A' is way too low for me. Might as well go back to playing bass at that point.

Thanx Frank!

EDIT: Drew, I dont use that thick of a gauge. Been using the 10-52. Im sure some shit will need to be done though.

I've been using a new tuning lately, from low to high: G A E F A G. It sounds a little queer.

That tuning is fabulous! I only use it when I'm in college. You know what they say, all tunings are the same in the dark...

hey oof what kind of axe did ya get?
I like ernie ball's skinny top heavy bottom set, and I take a set of 10 52's and use the 52, 42, and 30 strings only
and then use the top three strings from a .009 11 16 set and mix em. Only change one string at a time.
keep on fucking with that screw on the back of yer floyd until the tension sits at an exact level angle to your geetar and there ya have it. It takes several shots at tuning up the strings, locking the lock nut, twisting the screw on the back of the floyd, and then repeating over and over until it stays in tune and the tremelo sits even.
it's kind of a bitch but it's not rocket surgery

CIARAN - you said "busted my nut"
your face

I just got done watching a video on changing the bastards. And that is the exact reason why I always stuck with a fixed bridge. But I always like to learn to play new shit.

There is a link posted above for the geetar.

Awesome! You'll have to let me know how it feels/sounds. Is it neck heavy?

When I was getting a new axe it was a decision between an Ibanez Xiphos and that one. I chose the Xiphos. But it's extremely neck heavy.

Mine's pretty neutral. Feels amazing both standing and sitting.
