I'm pretty sure I already have a full carload for this show, looks like Seattle will be well represented. I'll make sure to update this thread once the date is finalized :)

And remember, the legal drinking age in Canada is 19 :)

This is a 19+ show since it is at a bar. Make sure you have either a passport or a state ID/Drivers license AND birth certificate or you will be denied access across the border. No criminal records either.

Good times :)

Make sure not to bring ANYTHING illegal across the border and avoid doing anything that makes your eyes red and/or dilated before you hit the border. If you even look stoned or anything they will generally detain you for an hour or two while they run thorough background checks.

If you feel the need to smoke anything in Canada (not sure if you do that or not) just walk outside between bands, there will be several groups of people passing joints. Tell them you came up from the US and offer them a couple of bucks. They will generally decline the money and hook you up.

One more thing: The Balmoral is in the absolute worst part of town, do not leave anything visible in your vehicle, the crackheads will break your windows for a couple of quarters on the floor! Watch your back at all times. For some quality entertainment after the show walk around the area a little bit, there are so many crackheads it truly resembles a zombie movie! I'll try to edit some of my crackhead footage from a few months ago and post it on Youtube this weekend :)

Does anyone know if a DUI would constitute reason for denial across the border? Other than a traffic violation record longer than the declaration of independence i have no serious criminal offenses. Also, zombie crackhead footage is always appreciated!

I hear that it does, not 100 percent positive though. Best bet would be to contact the Canadian government for confirmation, you have plenty of time :)

Yes.

It depends on how long ago it happened though. I actually tried to look up the rules for you (I was discussing this exact topic with somebody else yesterday, so it was on my mind anyhow) and couldn't find any really specific info. I believe if it's 10+ years past they generally consider you 'rehabilitated'.

5 or less you may be denied entry unless you have filed the proper documents with their Gov't. If you don't declare it and they run your papers, you're pretty much screwed.
Of course, it was the location of these daing things that I couldn't find. Goofy-ass Canadians. ;)

So if somebody does come across 'em, I still want to know.

Let's get this party in motion.

How long does it take for me to get to you and then up to BC? Should I take the day off or just leave early???

It's been a VERY long time since I have been farther north than the tulalip casino :smoke:

It takes 80 minutes or so to get to Bellingham, then another 90 odd minutes to cracktown in BC

There is no time limit on what they check on. We have had stuff come up on band members that happened over 20 years ago.

But it if is alcohol related, you are pretty much fucked or you can pay a heavy fee to enter.

That's because you look like you're up to no good. :D

Really, when it comes down to it, it seems there isn't much way to say what's-what. I can legally cross but have had the bejebus searched out of my car and my papers ran several times. On the other hand, a ton of times, especially going up, they've barely even looked at us. It seems to be more of a question of how good of a mood they're in. I've found it's been a lot more of a hastle to get back into the states. Bottom line, do a little homework, but you (anyone in question) won't know for sure until ya try.
